A Large Chair Does Not Make a King
Africa Centre

An immersive installation that encourages visitors to leave their egos at the door. The four prominent sculptural staircases each with a decoratively embellished chair on top, invite participants to climb up and take a seat.
The stairs represent the walk of life that everyone takes, with the chair symbolising the pinnacle of an individual’s achievement. When sat down everyone will be at the same height, which will encourage people to ignite new conversations and form new relationships.
Additionally, during the installation, the space played host to a series of events including workshops, film screenings and DJ nights.
