Hope for a Better Tomorrow - Lucky Charms

‘Lucky Charms’ is part of a major commission by Springfield University Hospital to transform how hospital wards are experienced by patients, service users and staff. A series of two workshops have been conducted with patients and staff, informing the design development of the artwork created. Themes of hope and optimism emerged from the workshops, influencing the mural, ‘Lucky Charms’, as motifs of positive messages intending to uplift patients, staff, visitors and loved ones alike to gain hope and luck from the piece. In this way, the workshop’s participating patients are represented in the mural itself spiritually. Patients and visitors are facing their own unique and shared challenges, in need of hope and optimism. The artwork ‘Lucky Charms’ aims to provide them with such messages of positivity through the uplifting colours and motifs.
