Milton Keynes City Council commissioned Yinka Ilori to deliver a dramatic transformation of Station Square, the gateway to the city and one of the largest public-realm spaces in the UK.

The British-Nigerian artist brings a bold, large-scale installation that fills the square with colour and captures the energy of one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities. Drawing on Ilori’s cultural heritage and inspired by Nigerian textiles, Walk With Your Dreams celebrates movement, identity, and collective experience.

The installation weaves together key symbolic elements: symmetry, offering balance and harmony; beams, representing transformation and progress; flowers, symbolising personal dreams, growth, and the city’s natural surroundings; circular forms, reflecting unity, connection, and community; and colour, expressing the diversity and vibrancy of Milton Keynes’ creative spirit.

Reflecting on the project, Ilori says:
“When Milton Keynes approached me about curating another installation, this time for Station Square, I was excited by the opportunity to bring a new, meaningful artwork to the city centre. With its thriving Nigerian community and growing arts scene, Milton Keynes strongly aligns with my values of accessibility, connection, and community. Despite the fast-paced nature of the station, I hope the work encourages people to pause, reflect, and find a moment of inner focus before continuing their journey. That’s the power of art, to lift us out of the everyday and invite us to think beyond ourselves.”
