The artwork titled ‘Cartwheel of Dreams,’ created by Yinka Ilori for Apple in celebration of Black History Month 2025, is inspired by the sentiment of a spinning wheel, weaving transformative elements together to create a magical world. Ilori offers these Words of Affirmation to uplift the Black community:

Create - Eye:

Observe but don’t react. Don’t get attached and desire what others have. Be alert, stay in the moment and focus on yourself. What sustains is your own creation and the best creation is your own story, visible or invisible.

Inspire - Wheel:

The wheel represents a source of inspiration, offering hope and joy. It encourages us to be self-starters, proactively shaping our own destinies, and inspiring others to do so. The spinning wheel symbolises transition and constant movement, pouring out of joy, knowledge, and blessings.

Innovate - Flower:

Flowers make us recognise beauty, igniting our curiosity. It encourages us to explore the beauty that lies around us and reminds us about the importance of setting incentives to keep discovering it. Innovation of different kinds, stemming from this curiosity for beauty can create social change and opportunities.

Participate - Rock:

The community is the rock that you can cling to. What generations achieved for you through the ages will shelter you. It builds a foundation for you and future generations to climb and flourish. It is a reliable support for your resilience and persistence.
