Hope Island
Project Everyone

To mark the launch of the first-ever United Nations International Day of Hope on July 12, Yinka Ilori joined forces with Project Everyone to launch a nationwide campaign supporting the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative aims to counter despair, highlight quiet victories, and restore belief in a better future for people, planet, and peace.
The campaign spans billboards, digital platforms, and a Sing for Hope piano installation on London’s Carnaby Street, emblazoned with the message “Be Hope.”
In a time of global crisis and division, UN member states have affirmed that hope is more than a feeling. It’s a force. Partnering with The Global Goals and creative agency Droga5 Dublin, Ilori helped launch the Be Hope campaign to accelerate progress on the SDGs, spotlighting urgent action on climate finance, debt relief, and the ethical use of AI.
As part of the celebration, Ilori unveiled Hope Island - a series of vibrant public artworks across the UK designed as joyful symbols of possibility and resilience.
Ilori shared:
“In times when it is becoming increasingly difficult to find common ground, one thing we all share is hope. It surrounds us, uniting us in our aspirations for a better future. Inspired by this sentiment, I am planting a seed of hope in this common ground, patiently nurturing it in the belief that it will reveal its beauty. Like trees that provide shade and bear fruit, this seed shall grow into something that can sustain us, offering comfort and sustenance to those who fear the future. Let hope flourish so that no one has to live in fear any longer. As a collective, we cultivate a ‘Hope Island’. A sanctuary where we can find refuge and unity, a place that holds us together.”
