The Joy of Moving Together
Absolut

The Joy of Moving Together explores movement as the starting point of human connection.
Created for Absolut, the artwork and installation takes inspiration from the way the brand brings people together at festivals and celebrations, often through dancing. Yinka Ilori begins by asking a simple question: how do we get there? Before people gather, they first have to leave where they are. Connection begins with movement. It starts with taking a step from one place to another, with our bodies but also with our minds.
Dance has long fascinated Ilori as one of humanity's oldest ways of connecting. Looking at movement traditions from around the world, from West African masquerade dances to Brazilian Capoeira and Persian Sufi whirling, he was drawn to the recurring language of circular movement. These traditions celebrate gathering through rhythm and shared energy, reminding us that we come from people and, throughout our lives, keep returning to one another.
These ideas are translated into an immersive installation inspired by the rhythmic motion of a zoetrope. Rotating architectural elements reveal fleeting glimpses of people, light and colour, while responsive projections react to visitors' gestures, creating an environment that constantly shifts and evolves with those moving through it. The resulting visual experience invites visitors to expand their perspective and experience movement, connection and shared space in a different way.
At its core, Joy of Moving Together is a celebration of the simple idea that, to connect, we first have to move. Physically and emotionally.
